4 Pretty Vintage Cafés You Must Visit This Summer

Who doesn't love a classic, vintage-inspired afternoon in the sun? We've rounded up our top vintage cafes to visit this summer in destinations including Brighton & Hove, London, and Kent.

Sugardough

18 Market St, Brighton

Sugardough in Brighton is a little gem tucked away less than a mile from the seafront and handmakes all of its delicious pastries, cakes, and fresh sourdough bread each day. We love Sugardough for its all-day menu and the cosy atmosphere in which you can kick back and relax in. Oh, did we mention their lemon meringue pie, too?

Pretty Things

4 Park Place, Horsham

Pretty Things in Horsham is the most Instagram-able little cafe in West Sussex which opened its doors in 2012. The quaint cafe is the brainchild of two glamorous local ladies who put their creative minds together and kickstarted the concept cafe. Pretty Things serves light bites, playful cakes, and a lovely afternoon tea. Expect pink decor, glamorous waitresses, and jam-packed milkshakes.

Betty Blythe

73 Blythe Rd, Hammersmith, London

London's very own portal into the 'Roaring Twenties', Betty Blythe is an afternoon delight. The themed cafe pays tribute to silent film actress Betty Blythe active from the 1920'-60's and who also happened to be the first woman to scandalously appear on film in the nude. Book early to experience one of their six afternoon teas including 'Traditional Victorian', 'After Wonderland' and Glamorous Great Gatsby'. Located in Hammersmith, the cafe is often fully booked so we'd recommend you reserve your place in advance.

The Vintage Empire

104 High St, Herne Bay, Kent

The Vintage Empire in Hearne Bay, Kent is a quaint 1940's-themed cafe serving locally-sourced pastries, cakes, and savoury light bites. Stylised around the war-era, memorabilia is thoughtfully placed around the cafe. It is a must-visit for those passing through Hearne Bay and the comfy couches facing the high street encourage one to participate in copious amounts of people-watching. What's not to love about The Vintage Empire?
