Why Movember Matters And How You Can Get Involved
November; it is the time of year which heralds the beginning of the festive period, with christmas lights being switched on around cities across the world and decorations being dusted off and put up in shop windows on our high streets.
It is also Men’s Health Awareness Month and the time of year when men across the globe ditch their razors for a good cause. While it is great fun seeing our friends, family and colleagues sporting comedy ‘taches, there is a serious reason at the heart of the campaign.
Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK with 75% of all U.K. suicides being men. New fitness offering, Manor, in partnership with technical apparel brand lululemon, is trying to reverse this fact through a new campaign, StrongNotSilent, in aid of Award-winning charity The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
Introducing The Series: StrongNotSilent
The StrongNotSilent series will invite men to come together, train, and hear from male fighters, soldiers, athletes and business leaders who will share their struggles with mental health. Speakers will include Manor’s CEO, CEO of The Office Group, a former professional boxer, a high profile former Special Forces soldier, and a former two time Muay Thai World Champion.
Guests can expect group training sessions designed to build rapport between speakers and attendees, followed by informal panel discussions on four different subjects i) money, power and success, ii) identity, iii) relationships and iv) vulnerability. Coaches and speakers will share their own personal experiences and encourage questions and contributions from the audience.
The final panel on vulnerability, comprised of Manor fight coaches Greg Wooton and Chris Baugh, will lead into a charity boxing night ‘Fight For Your Manor III’ with Manor’s boxers going head to head in the grand surroundings of the Grade II listed Cecil Sharp House.
Get involved, be aware and help to make a difference!
