5. The Langley,

Buckinghamshire

Opening in May this year and belonging to the Duke of Marlborough’s portfolio of affluent properties, The Langley once was a vast Georgian country estate cum hunting lodge and is now a sprawling, grand country manor. The main attraction of the hotel is The Langley Spa, a world-class wellness centre featuring an indoor and outdoor pool, thermal area, and five expansive treatment rooms.

4. Cliveden House

Overlooking a spectacular 19th-century parterre and surrounded by acres of ancient woodland running down to the River Thames, the title of Britain’s grandest hotel must surely be awarded to Grade I-listed building, Cliveden House.

Although the hotel, owned by the National Trust, is not new to the scene, it has recently undergone an incredible restoration.

There are 38 rooms and suites, each named after a figure from the house’s past; a Prince of Wales, several Dukes and most notably, Nancy Astor have all historically called Cliveden home.

The hotel is set just outside of Taplow, Maidenhead, and tops our list as one of the most opulent properties in the South Eastern region.

3. Vintry & Mercer

A new and exciting addition to our vibrant city of London is Vintry & Mercer, set to open in February 2019, will infuse the traditions of the areas historic trading guilds with contemporary style.

There’ll be 92 individually designed rooms as well as various suites with glass-panelled balconies looking out across to the Southbank.

The hotel will have a modern Mediterranean eatery, a wine bar, and, most notably, a spacious and contemporary roof terrace, plus a basement, speakeasy-style cocktail bar.

2. MGallery in Victory House

A brand new opening in London’s iconic Leicester Square, MGallery by Sofitel is an 86-bedroom hotel set within the beautiful Victory House.

The property is a heritage site ideally located amidst the capitals leading theatres, designer boutiques and top restaurants.

Inside, the imposing terracotta-coloured facade gives way to soft colours and hard furnishings; teals, greys, brass and wood, are offset by black-and-white film shots and the occasional Deco flourish.

1. Monkey Island Estate

One of the most spectacular hotels in Berkshire, the newly-renovated Monkey Island Estate is set on the grounds of a beautifully landscaped, private island in the River Thames.

The island has a rich history centuries old, and has been the haunt of monarchs, aristocrats and artists, along with writers, famous performers and Berkshire locals and now is home to one of the finest hotels in the Southeast.

Set across seven acres, Monkey Island Estate features 27 exquisite guestrooms and three opulent suites. The most exciting aspect of this new offering in the region is its highly-anticipated floating spa moored on the banks of the island and is set to host guests in a truly unique fashion. Opening in February 2019.
